About Me

I started on recorder at six, and by eight had added piano, violin and flute. In 1991 came two years at the vocational music school in Altötting, followed by two years of study in Nuremberg and three more in Würzburg – main subject viola, secondary subject piano – graduating in 1998. From 1999 I spent several years taking lessons myself in various brass and woodwind instruments. It matters to me that lessons feel pleasant and patient – ideally with a bit of humor too. Prima vista (sight-reading) is a fixed part of every lesson: students learn to play straight from the score. On top of that comes a self-written theory, homework, and rhythm book.

I think theoretical knowledge of harmony matters – it makes a lot of playing easier and more intuitive. Instrument studies, music theory, and music history are woven into lessons accordingly.

Lessons are conducted only in German and exclusively in person – no online lessons.

Piano lessons take place on two grand pianos – it enriches the lessons a great deal and makes learning more effective (and yes, it’s a bit of a luxury too). Four-hand piano playing and pieces for two pianos are part of the repertoire as well.

The house is smoke-free – though there is a cat.

A Look Inside the Studio
